Reviewing a speech on Jan. 9 by U.K. Foreign Secretary David Lammy, the Russian Embassy in London denounces it as offering the public “the same worn-out and easily recognizable neo-colonial principles of British foreign policy, which had on many occasions contributed to ratcheting up global tensions in the past.
“A closer look at David Lammy’s speech leads to the conclusion that London’s aim is to plunge the world into a confrontational paradigm of benefit solely to British interests. No wonder that the head of the FCDO proclaimed, with evident relief, the decisive end of the “post-Cold War peace” and announced plans for yet more military spending. …
“Countries of the Global South may take note of David Lammy’s clearly expressed regret over the West’s failure during the Cold War to enforce its will upon the so-called ‘Third World.’ The formation of the Non-Aligned Movement was essentially portrayed as an unfortunate misstep, one that ought to serve as a lesson for the future.
