The Russian Defense Ministry announced this morning the liberation of Kurakhovo, about 35 km west of Donetsk city. It was not an easy battle, as the Kiev regime committed a lot of resources to hold it. “In ten years, the Kiev regime has turned it into a powerful fortified area with a developed network of pillboxes and underground communications,” the ministry said. “It is secured by a reservoir to the north, which significantly limited the manoeuvring capabilities of the Russian assault units….
“In total, the AFU command has concentrated 26 battalions with a total strength of over 15,000 troops to hold Kurakhovo.” The Armed Forces of Ukraine, it claimed, lost 12,000 of those troops and about 3,000 weapons, including 40 tanks and other armored vehicles. “Capturing this important logistics settlement has significantly complicated the logistics support of the AFU in Donetsk direction, depriving the Kiev regime of the ability of shelling peaceful residents of Donetsk, the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic, with artillery systems,” it said. “After the capture of Kurakhovo, the Russian troops reached an operations space. This will increase the pace of liberation of the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
Yesterday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the blocking of an Ukrainian assault towards Berdin, a small settlement about 15 km northeast of Sudzha in the Kursk region. “At around 9 a.m. Moscow time [GMT+3], in order to stop the offensive by the Russian troops in Kursk direction, the enemy launched a counter-attack by an assault detachment consisting of two tanks, one counter obstacle vehicle, and 12 armoured fighting vehicles with paratroopers toward the Berdin area. Artillery and aviation of the Sever Group of Forces defeated one AFU assault detachment,” it said. “Two tanks, one counter obstacle vehicle, and seven armoured fighting vehicles were neutralised.”
