Slovak Leader Warns Ukraine in NATO Could Trigger Third World War

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, on a visit to Budapest on Jan. 21 where he met with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban, warned that the integration of Ukraine into NATO could become a trigger for a third world war, reported TASS. “The war in Ukraine is not our war,” Fico said further. “We are not at war with either Russia or Ukraine. We are a peaceful country and we want a peaceful solution.”

Orban, for his part, said that Ukraine is facing a worsened situation and is forced to seek help, so it has no right to dictate its terms to Central European countries. “The way Kiev is trying to build relations with Central European states is unacceptable. We are ready to respect them, but we demand respect for ourselves. And if we raise a serious issue, they should discuss it with us,” Orban said at a news conference broadcast by Hungary’s M1 television.
