Donald Trump and British Prime Minister 'Sir' Keir Starmer Hold Press Conference

In opening remarks of his press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Donald Trump thanked King Charles for the invitation for a second state visit—a rare occurrence, it seems—and said that Winston Churchill’s bust is back in the Oval Office, where it belongs. He spoke of the need for peace, and justified the mineral deal, by pointing out that while Europe made Ukraine loans (supposedly to be paid back), the U.S. had simply given the money away.

Starmer gave lip service to supporting Trump’s efforts to achieve peace, while saying that the only way for peace to last (read: for war to be triggered again) is to have boots on the ground. The U.K. is putting more money than ever into Ukraine and military spending.

During the Q&A, Starmer was asked what King Charles thought of Trump’s plans to annex Canada and deprive him of one of his “realms.” Starmer began to founder in his response, which Trump cut off, saying, “That’s enough.”

On whether NATO’s Article 5 would apply to Russian attacks on European peacekeepers on Ukrainian soil, Trump demurred, saying that the peace would be so advantageous that the issue would not arise.
