Israeli authorities have lifted its ban on the imprisoned Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya receiving any lawyer visits, according to the Palestinian center serving as his lawyers, Middle East Eye reported on Feb. 7. “After more than 40 days of arbitrary detention without access to legal counsel, Israeli authorities lifted the ban on Dr. Abu Safiya meeting his lawyers,” the Al-Mezan Center reported. “We have formally requested immediate access for our lawyers to visit him and assess his condition.” The news gives hope that the courageous director of the destroyed Kamal Adwan Hospital in Northern Gaza is, at least, still alive.
