German Retooling Industry to Weapons Production

The transformation of ailing parts of the civilian industry into producers of weapons has begun in Germany, with a historic train factory helping to build tanks as part of a deal between Franco-German arms group KNDS and French railway manufacturer Alstom.

KNDS will complete a takeover of Alstom’s train carriage factory in the eastern German city of Görlitz, Saxony, by 2027.
