Genocide Against Palestinians Continues, Despite Ceasefire

A Feb. 6 report published by the Electronic Intifada based on details from the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor make clear that the Israeli genocide against Palestine continues, that Israel is failing to keep commitments made under the terms of the ceasefire, regarding the entry and delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza and that everything Israel is now doing is calculated to bring about the “physical destruction” of the Palestinian people. Palestinians are still being killed by IDF snipers and soldiers, at a rate of about six per day. This is true both in the north and south of the Gaza Strip. A total of 110 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the ceasefire, some of whom were killed directly and some of whom succumbed to their injuries.

Especially in the north, access to safe water is “a daily struggle,” Friedman writes. In the winter cold, people still can’t obtain adequate temporary shelters and other material to protect themselves from the cold. A Feb. 3 statement by the Palestine media office reported that according to the ceasefire protocol, 60,000 caravans and 200,000 tents were supposed to be brought into the Gaza Strip to house displaced people. Another 600 trucks carrying aid and fuel are also supposed to enter the Strip each day, in addition to medical and health services and equipment needed to bolster humanitarian services.
