Israeli Hostages Released, Netanyahu Rants, Ceasefire Agreement Hanging On

When the three male Israeli hostages, whom Hamas released on Feb. 8, came out looking gaunt and emaciated, it caused an uproar in Israel. While there’s anger at Hamas for the way that these three were apparently treated, the optics look particularly bad for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was watching the show from his luxury hotel room in Washington, D.C.

Nonetheless, Netanyahu tried to use it to his advantage: “We have once again seen what the Hamas monsters are. They are the same monsters who slaughtered our citizens and abused our captives,” he said, reported the Times of Israel. He added that “President Trump agreed with me totally: We will do everything to return all the hostages, but Hamas won’t be there. We will eliminate Hamas, and return all our captives,” Netanyahu said.
