Orban Warns Ukraine May Be EU’s ‘Afghanistan’

In an interview with Tucker Carlson released on Feb. 14, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the Ukraine war could become European Union’s Afghanistan with “no way out.” Orban made his remarks while attending the Feb. 13 Tucker Carlson Summit in Dubai. Hungary is one of the two EU/NATO countries that border Ukraine.

“If President [Donald] Trump is not able to find a solution, that war could become easily an Afghanistan for the European Union,” Orbán said, referring to the United States’ 20-year war, the longest in U.S. history, in the Central Asian country.

“Endless war, endless conflict, no way out of the conflict, eating up energy, human lives, money, everything,” Orbán said, continuing with his comparison. “Destroying the frame of normal life for the European Union. … We are in serious danger.”
