Russia and India Consolidate Their Defense Cooperation

Russia and India have signed a new defense logistics agreement aimed at improving coordination in military exercises, disaster relief, and other joint operations. The Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Agreement was signed following a meeting between Russian Deputy Defense Minister Colonel-General Alexander Fomin and Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar.

The agreement, which is seen as a key step in strengthening military cooperation, underscores the commitment of both nations to their strategic partnership. The pact is expected to improve interoperability between the armed forces, especially during military exercises and humanitarian missions.

Russia has been India’s top defense supplier for decades, with significant collaboration such as the Su-30MKI fighter and BrahMos missiles. Despite diversifying its sources of military technology, India has expressed its commitment to further strengthen ties with Russia, maintaining a strong defense partnership despite geopolitical challenges.
