Thai Prime Minister in China, Expands High-Speed Rail Connection

Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtarn Shinawatra arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for an official visit to China. The Thai Cabinet announced that the high-speed rail connection between Bangkok and China was to be extended from the current Bangkok to Nakhon-Ratchasima line, to the Laotian border at Nong Khai. This will create a rail connection from Bangkok to Yunnan in China, via the Laotian rail built by China under the Belt and Road Initiative. This line will eventually be extended south through Malaysia to Singapore.
