Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a memo on Feb. 5 that includes a change to the prosecution of cases under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). From now on, the Department of Justice will only bring criminal charges in “instances of alleged conduct similar to more traditional espionage by foreign government actors.” She also disbanded the Foreign Influence Task Force, established by the FBI in 2017 and used to promote unsubstantiated allegations that then-President Trump was a tool of Russia.
