Canada's New Prime Minister Mark Carney Leaps on Stage as the Tough Guy To Take On Trump

March 16, 2025 (EIRNS)—Speaking outside Ottawa’s Rideau Hall after being sworn in as prime minister on March 14, Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney came out swinging against Donald Trump.

“We will never, ever, in any way, shape, or form, be part of the United States,” Carney said, referring to Trump’s constant talk about annexing Canada and his announcement of trade tariffs against the country.

“America is not Canada…. [We are] a very fundamentally different nation.” Both “the nature of Canada” and “the economics” make Trump’s idea unthinkable, he said. “We didn’t ask for this fight, but Canadians are always ready when someone else drops the gloves,” Carney said, adding, “Canada will win.” Earlier in the week, Ottawa imposed 25% tariffs on tens of billions of dollars’ worth of American imports in retaliation for the 25% duty hikes that Trump has imposed on Canada.

Carney is a high-level British Empire operative. He was formerly Governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020—a post which is only entrusted to the most loyal imperial insiders—and is known to be personally close to King Charles.
