March 22, 2025 (EIRNS)—In official remarks reported March 15 by Chilean daily Nuevo Poder, China’s ambassador to Chile Niu Qingbao responded to U.S. allegations about the joint China-Chile Ventarrones Astronomical Center, saying it operates according to “the principles of mutual benefit, respect and equality and strict compliance with Chilean laws and regulations.” It has the support, he added, of “the governments, universities and research institutions of both countries. The binational astronomical installations under construction operate with total transparency in their purposes and functioning.”
