March 22, 2025 (EIRNS)—The Egyptian government denied on March 21 Israeli reports that it had agreed to temporarily relocate a half-million Gazan Palestinians to a city in northern Sinai “as part of Gaza’s reconstruction efforts.” A statement issued by the Egyptian State Information Service (SIS) on Friday, March 21, labelled these allegations as baseless and entirely false, reported Al Ahram.
The SIS reiterated Egypt’s steadfast and principled stance, declared since the early days of the genocide against Gaza in October 2023, rejecting any attempt—whether forced or voluntary—to displace Palestinians from their homeland, particularly to Egypt. The statement emphasized that such a move would liquidate the Palestinian cause and pose a grave threat to Egypt’s national security. The SIS concluded by reaffirming that Egypt’s clear and unwavering position constituted the foundation of its reconstruction plan, presented at the March 4 emergency Arab summit in Cairo. The plan, which was unanimously approved by the summit, ensures the rebuilding of Gaza without the displacement of a single Palestinian from the enclave.
