March 13, 2025 (EIRNS)—Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Arab counterparts met with U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff in Doha, Qatar on March 12, to discuss the Arab reconstruction plan for Gaza. They agreed to continue consulting with Witkoff on the plan. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza and the need to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Abdelatty also held separate talks in Doha with Witkoff and Middle East Coordinator at the U.S. National Security Council Eric Trager, during which he reviewed the phases of the Arab plan and its details. They agreed to continue consultation on the plan. Witkoff, for his part, praised Egypt’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
