International Court of Justice Elects New President

March 3, 2025 (EIRNS)—Following the resignation of Judge Nawaf Salam as president of the UN International Court of Justice, Vice-President Julia Sebutinde took up his studies, serving as interim president.

The Court has now met to choose a new president. Judge Iwasawa Yuji (from Japan) has been elected President of the International Court of Justice, to fill out the remainder of Salam’s term, through Feb. 5, 2027.
