March 21, 2025 (EIRNS)—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is behaving like a criminal street gang that believes there is no one who will stop its rampaging. AP reported this morning that “Israel’s renewed military offensive in the Gaza Strip threatens to be even deadlier and more destructive than the last, as it pursues wider aims with far fewer constraints.” Indeed, Netanyahu appears to be in the strongest position he’s ever been in, with the complete support of President Donald Trump, the return of Meir Kahane backer Itamar Ben-Gvir to Netanyahu’s ruling coalition, and the unanimous cabinet vote last night to fire Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar.
“It all suggests that the war’s next phase could be more brutal than the last, in which tens of thousands of Palestinians were killed, the vast majority of the population was displaced and much of Gaza was bombed to rubble,” says AP.
According to Haaretz’s live feed today, Katz also announced that he has instructed the IDF to “capture additional territory in Gaza, while evacuating residents, and to broaden the security zones around Gaza for the protection of Israeli communities and soldiers, through a permanent hold of the territory by Israel.”
