Italy’s Prime Minister Meloni Calls Sending European Troops to Ukraine Is a ‘Risky’ Proposition

March 19, 2025 (EIRNS)—In remarks to the Italian Senate yesterday, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni again made it clear why Italy is not joining the Anglo-French “Coalition of the Willing” to send troops to Ukraine. “Once again I will be clear, including before this House: sending Italian troops to Ukraine is an issue that has never been on the agenda, just as we believe that sending European troops—first proposed by the U.K. and France—is a very complex, risky and ineffective option.”
