March 5, 2025 (EIRNS)—"The European Deep State” (EDS) has threatened Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with a government crisis, said Italian Sovereign Popular Democracy Party (DSP) leader Marco Rizzo. Meloni, who has grassroot origins, is tendentially pro-Trump, but the EDS has threatened to provoke a government crisis, and replace her with former Prime Minister and European Central Bank head, Mario Draghi, if she does not stick with the EU war policy. This was made very clear by the combined statements, in recent days, of Berlusconi’s daughter and business heir, Marina Berlusconi, and French President Emmanuel Macron, who gave interviews to the same neocon daily Il Foglio.
Marina Berlusconi has no official functions in the party created by her father, Forza Italia, but is, however, its main creditor. In her interview with Il Foglio, which sounded as if it was written in Brussels, and was seen as a policy statement for FI, Ms Berlusconi attacked Trump ("The wrecker of Europe"), Musk, Russia, China and Iran, and called on Kiev not to “surrender.”

In the aftermath of the London summit, Macron gave an interview to the same paper, warning Meloni not to split from the Anglo-French axis, adding that Mario Draghi indicated the path for Italy. The message is clear, Rizzo said: the European Deep State is warning Meloni: if you do not do what we tell you, FI will pull out of the coalition, and the government will fall, to be replaced by a new, technocratic Draghi government.
