March 20, 2025 (EIRNS)—White House special envoy Steve Witkoff told Bloomberg yesterday that the heads of the State Department, Pentagon, and CIA are involved in the normalization of relations with Moscow on behalf of Trump. “I think normalization is about having real conversation,” Witkoff stressed. He noted that Joe Biden, during his presidential term, “did not speak to [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin for three and a half years,” reported TASS. “President Trump, in a short eight weeks, has spoken to President Putin twice—very, very positive and constructive conversations,” the envoy noted.
Trump, he said, “has directed the National Security Advisor [Mike Waltz], the Secretary of State [Marco Rubio], the CIA director [John Ratcliffe], Pete Hegseth, our Secretary of Defense. Everybody is engaged in this process,” Witkoff noted. “I think you’re going to see some very, very positive results in the near term,” he concluded.
