March 14, 2025 (EIRNS)—The ReArm Europe plan is not a defense strategy, but a financial plan, said Gianandrea Gaiani, manager of the Italian defense magazine Analisi Difesa.

In a video interview with Giacomo Gabellini’s channel “Il Contesto,” Gaiani said: “It is a financial program aimed at ensuring that there is a transfer of public and private funds, including those of savers, to investment funds, to systems that feed the defense industry. More simply, if until yesterday the slogan was ‘buy treasury bonds,’ today the slogan is ‘buy treasury bonds for weapons.’ History reminds us of something like that, though, doesn’t it? The collection of ‘Gold to the Homeland,’ when back then there were no bank transfers, there were no Treasuries, but there was gold. But back then there was war, we were at war! This time it seems to me that we are not there—but neither do we want to go there.”
