March 14, 2025 (EIRNS)—U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to reporters on Friday, March 14, at the conclusion of a G7 Ministerial Summit in Charlevoix, Canada. Asked numerous questions about the just-concluded visit of Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow to meet with Russian President Putin and the next steps, Rubio expressed optimism about the prospects for peace:
”[T]here was what we felt was a very positive and productive engagement yesterday with President Putin and Special Envoy Witkoff.… We’ll examine the Russian position more closely and determine—the President will then determine what the next steps are.
