March 4, 2025 (EIRNS)—During their Feb. 12 phone call, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly asked Russia President Vladimir Putin to initiate a discussion between the U.S. and Iran, according to Bloomberg today. The White House official who revealed the story claimed that Russia offered to do the outreach on its own accord, and that discussions are in their initial stages.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Bloomberg that “Russia believes that the United States and Iran should resolve all problems through negotiations” and that Moscow “is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this.” Commenting on the development, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said it was “natural” for countries to offer their assistance.
