Russia, China and Iran Discuss Iranian Nuclear Program

March 14, 2025 (EIRNS)—The Deputy Foreign Ministers of China, Russia and Iran met in Beijing on March 14 to discuss Iran’s nuclear program. Participants included China’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

“Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu stated at a press conference Tehran had confirmed to Beijing and Moscow the peaceful nature of its nuclear developments,

“We reaffirm the importance of maintaining the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as the cornerstone of the international nuclear non-proliferation system,” Ma Zhaoxu said. “China and Russia welcome Iran’s reaffirmation of the peaceful nature of its atomic field and its unwillingness to develop nuclear weapons.” Russia, and Iran emphasized that all parties should avoid actions that undermine the International Atomic Energy Agency’s professional, objective, and impartial performance of its duties, Ma Zhaoxu concluded, as reported by TASS.

Commenting on the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called the trilateral meeting “an important step in the right direction. We will also enhance communication with other parties regarding the Iran nuclear issue, urging them to show political sincerity and return to talks as soon as possible,” he added. “While appreciating Iran’s adherence to its commitment to renounce the development of nuclear weapons, we fully respect Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy,” he pointed out.
