Russia Says Ukraine Attempts Second Attack on Turkstream Pipeline

March 2, 2025 (EIRNS)—The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement yesterday charging that in the hours prior to Zelensky’s arrival on Friday, Ukrainian forces attempted a drone attack on the Russkaya Compressor Station in Gai-Kodzor in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. The Russkaya station sends gas to Turkey via the Turkstream pipeline from whence it then flows on to Europe. “During the repelling of the attack, all three Ukrainian UAVs were shot down at a safe distance from the compressor station,” the statement said. “The compressor station supplies gas to the TurkStream pipeline as usual.” The statement notes that this was the second Ukrainian attempt to strike the Ruskaya station, the first having been on Jan. 11.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov informed Türkiye about the attempted attack during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, reported TASS.
