March 29, 2025 (EIRNS)—Aleksandr Darchiev, the new Russian ambassador to the United States, spoke to reporters upon his arrival in Washington, late March 26, on his perspective for the two countries. His remarks were covered by RT and other media. Darchiev said, “It is encouraging that my tenure in the United States begins at a time when a certain window of opportunity has opened in our bilateral relations. The presidents of our countries have set a goal to restore state-to-state contacts, which were effectively severed by the team of former U.S. President Joe Biden, and to normalize the functioning of the diplomatic missions.”
Darchiev reviewed several specific tasks involved in restoring functioning, from improving visa procedures, to re-establishing direct air traffic between Russia and the U.S.
