Russian Diplomat Asserts, the World Benefits from U.S.-Russia Dialogue; Expand It!

March 17, 2025 (EIRNS)—Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s Deputy Ambassador the United Nations, has called attention to how much the world would benefit were the kind of dialogue now underway between Russia and the United States expanded to include China and other influential nations of the Global South. He offered this crucial strategic insight in an interview with The Duran, posted March 16, in which he answered questions from Glenn Diesen and Alexander Mercouris.

Much of the interview focused on the status of U.S.-Russia diplomacy and responses to the American ceasefire proposal. He sees agreement between the Russian and American President in that a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia must lead to a resolution to the root causes of the conflict, not just a pause in the fighting in which Ukraine rearms for the next round. President Trump also wants the ceasefire to lead to a lasting peace, he noted.

He pointed out that the Russia-Ukraine conflict is not the only area benefiting from the serious dialogue now underway between Russia and the United States. He cited the fact that Russia and the U.S. had jointly presented a draft resolution to the UN Security Council last week after the terrible massacres which occurred in Syria, as a concrete example of the benefits which could flow from the decision of the United States and Russia to engage in dialogue. We have different views on how the crisis in Syria developed, he said, but we put aside our differences from the past on Syria, in order to together outline the parameters needed for Syria to move forward towards. The resolution passed unanimously.
