Serbia Unveils, 'We're Facing a Threat of a Maidan Coup'

March 23, 2025 (EIRNS)—On March 22, Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said, “A color revolution is taking place in Belgrade…. Western security services are behind the color revolution as they want to put a new government in power,” reported RT. He added that the Serbian authorities “would not allow it.”

He made his remarks during a meeting in Moscow with the secretary of the Russian National Security Council, Sergey Shoigu.

Both Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Vulin have accused unnamed foreign actors in Western, Croatian, and Albanian intelligence agencies of helping to fuel unrest in the country to overthrow the current government. Vulin believes that this activity is due to the fact that Serbia has refused to issue sanctions against Russia over the special military operations in Ukraine.

Vulin warned that those behind the unrest could instigate additional “radicalization” of the protests. He believes those who organized the March 15 rally are working for another “Maidan,” he told Shoigu.
