March 11, 2025 (EIRNS)—The Daily Mirror tabloid put out a story overnight, on March 10, claiming that the U.S. is “set to lift its ban on military aid and intelligence support for war-torn Ukraine….” This supposedly came “after a last-ditch plea” by British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
The evidence for the claim is a statement issued by No. 10 Downing Street that Starmer had spoken to Trump by phone for 20 minutes yesterday ahead of the talks in Saudi Arabia. “The Prime Minister said that U.K. officials had been speaking to Ukraine officials over the weekend and they remain committed to a lasting peace,” it said. “The Prime Minister said he hoped there would be a positive outcome to the talks that would enable U.S. aid and intelligence sharing to be restarted.”
As of this writing, the White House has not issued a readout of the phone call.
