March 13, 2025 (EIRNS)—The Russian Defense Ministry announced today the liberation of Sudzha, the largest settlement that Ukrainian forces had occupied during their incursion into Russia’s Kursk region, begun in August 2024. “As a result of active offensive actions, Sudzha, Kursk region, has been liberated,” the Ministry said in a graphic posted on its Telegram channel. It also posted a one-minute video showing some of the destruction in Sudzha that Russian troops found.

In the morning update posted on their Telegram channel, the Two Majors reported that Russian troops have full control of the city, and the Nazi remnants are being cleared out of basements and shelters. “The village of Podol and the village of Melovoy [both to the south of Sudzha] have been de-occupied,” they said. “Dozens of civilians who survived under enemy occupation have been evacuated from the liberated villages. The enemy is striking the region with long-range American MLRS…. Counter battles are currently underway in the Sumy Region, in the direction of Novenkoye-Basovka.”
