March 28, 2025 (EIRNS)—President Donald Trump on March 27 withdrew his nomination of Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. She had not yet navigated the Senate approval process. Trump, by dropping her, preserves the very thin majority the Republicans have in the House of Representatives. He praised Stefanik. She acquiesced in his decision, saying she is “proud to be a team player,” remaining to serve in Congress.
