March 9, 2025 (EIRNS)—Reports of the secret negotiations between the U.S. and Hamas have enraged Israel. When asked about Israel’s frustration during Sunday talk shows on March 9, U.S. representative Adam Boehler told CNN that he was “sympathetic” to Israel’s concerns, but that “we’re the United States. We’re not an agent of Israel.” According to the daily Haaretz, Boehler was optimistic about a deal with Hamas, saying “something can come together within weeks” and that there is a “real chance for some movement.”
In comments to Fox News today, Boehler said, referring to his discussion with Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer: “Quite frankly, it’s totally fair for Israel to have concerns about direct contact. I think I was able to put him at ease, that I wasn’t going to go off the rails, that it would be parameters that we would work on together.”
