Wang Yi Extends China's Full Support for Egyptian and Arab Plan for Gaza

March 9, 2025 (EIRNS)—Speaking at a press conference at the National People’s Congress in Beijing on March 7, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed Beijing’s strong support for a Palestine-Israel two-state solution and the Egyptian peace plan for Gaza. “Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people,” Wang Yi said. “It is an inseparable part of the Palestinian territory. Changing its status by forceful means will not bring about peace but only conflict. We support the plan put forward for restoring peace initiated by Egypt and other Arab countries. The will of the people must not be defied and justice must not be abandoned. We should promote a just and lasting peace by ramping up humanitarian assistance, accept the principle of the Palestinians governing Palestine, and contribute to the reconstruction in Gaza. Without Middle East peace, the world will not be stable.

“The Palestinian question has always been at the heart of the Middle East question. The state of Israel has long been a reality , but the state of Palestine is still far beyond reach. Going forward, the international community should focus more on the two-state solution and give more support to independent statehood for Palestine. Only then could Israel and Palestine coexist in peace and the Arab and Jewish people live side-by-side in enduring amity.
