Witkoff Calls Egyptian Gaza Reconstruction Plan 'Good-Faith First Step'

March 7, 2025 (EIRNS)—The Trump Administration Special envoy to the Mideast Steve Witkoff called Egypt’s Gaza reconstruction plan a “good-faith first step,” in a telephone discussion with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty on March 6. Abdelatty outlined the crucial elements of the Arab plan and its main phases, highlighting that it has received unanimous backing from Arab countries at the recent Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo.

The Egyptian foreign minister also said his government is committed to a productive dialogue with President Donald Trump, and the U.S. administration, to expound the plan and its benefits, as well as joint efforts to ensure that all parties implement all the phases of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He stressed that Israel must permit humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, to allow the process of recovery and reconstruction to begin and must put an end to the war.https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/1234/541617/Egypt/Foreign-Affairs/Egypt-FM,-US-envoy-discuss-Arab-plan-for-Gaza-reco.aspx
