March 16, 2025 (EIRNS)—White House envoy Steve Witkoff told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, March 16, that President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will most likely speak this week to work on reaching an agreement around a ceasefire in the Ukraine war.
Witkoff reported, according to Axios, that he had had a four-hour meeting with Putin in the Kremlin on Thursday night, March 13, and called Trump right afterwards from the U.S. Embassy to give him a report. He described the meeting with Putin as “positive,” adding that “the two sides are a lot closer today than they were a few weeks ago. We narrowed the differences.”
