Former German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel, chairman of Atlantik-Brücke (Atlantic Bridge)think tank, thinks Canada is qualified to become a member of the European Union: “I would offer the Canadians to become a member of the European Union. That would probably make the most sense,” Gabriel said in an interview today with the Weser-Kurier newspaper. “They’re more European than some European member states anyway. They are just not geographically in Europe. But you can create rules for that,” Gabriel said.
