Brazil News Site Reports on Helga Zepp-LaRouche's Warning of U.S. Tariff Policy Dangers

Brasil 247, one of Brazil’s major news portals, followed by many in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s base, published a news item today on Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche’s April 7 article on the pitfalls facing U.S. President Donald Trump’s ill-conceived tariff policy, the same day as China’s English-language CGTN service published her April 7 article. Brasil 247’s story opens dramatically:

“A new wave of unilateral tariffs by the United States could not only fail to reverse the country’s deindustrialization, but also trigger a global financial collapse. Instead of strengthening the American economy, the measures adopted could generate a chain reaction of bankruptcies in a system already overburdened by debt and speculative bubbles.

“The assessment is part of an article published on Monday (7) by German political commentator Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder of the Schiller Institute, on the website of Chinese broadcaster CGTN,” Brasil 247 reported.

The news story picked up on much of Zepp-LaRouche’s argument.

“According to Zepp-LaRouche, the justification released by the White House is simplistic and ignores the particularities of each economic model. The commentator points out, for example, that China has not only eliminated extreme poverty, but has also created a middle class of 400 million people with high spending power.
