China announced that they will hold a meeting on April 23 at the UN Security Council to denounce the outrageous U.S. tariffs. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Beijing would use various international platforms, including the UN, to discuss “the dangers of unilateralism and bullying,” adding that they “presented unprecedented difficulties and challenges to the United Nations and multilateralism.” In its concept note for this unusual session of the Security Council, China wrote, “By weaponizing tariffs as a tool of extreme pressure, the U.S. has gravely violated international trade rules, and triggered severe shocks and turbulence in the world economy and multilateral trading system.”
