Construction of Morocco's High-Speed Train Extension Officially Launched

King Mohammed VI of Morocco chaired the launch of the construction of the extension of his nation’s high-speed rail network in a ceremony on April 24. The new line will extend the current Anger-Casablanca line to Marrakesh

Using French TGV technology, the new high-speed railway has an expected total cost of $5.7 billion, excluding the cost of trains. Once completed the journey from Marrakesh to Tangier will only take 2 hours and 40 minutes, while travelers can access Casablanca airport from Rabat in only 35 minutes, according to an announcement by Moroccan railway operator ONCF.
