On Saturday, April 12, the UN permanent representative of France Jerome Bonnafont, and his counterpart from Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz Al-Wasel co-chaired a briefing for UN member and observer states, to prepare for a major international conference in June on the Palestinian crisis. The conference will focus on “the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian cause and the implementation of the two-state solution,” reported Arab News.
Abdulaziz Al-Wasel emphasized, “that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the ‘cornerstone for achieving security and stability in the region,’ adding that the Kingdom’s support for the two-state solution is a ‘longstanding and unwavering position.’ Al-Wasel also remarked that the conference was intended to create ‘a formal and comprehensive track to enhance international efforts aimed at reaching a just and lasting resolution.’
