Iran and Russian Ministers Meet, Continuing Top-level Collaboration

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi on March 31 met with Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexey Dedov in Tehran. The two discussed “the latest situation on the nuclear issue, the lifting of sanctions, and the prospects for negotiations,” according to a post on X by Gharibabadi.

The Iranian official also announced that he had been invited to participate in an upcoming meeting in Moscow of the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Group of Friends of the United Nations Charter in mid-April, adding, “Attending this meeting and strengthening this group is among our definite plans.”

Gharibabadi adds: “Considering that, according to the results of the recent trilateral meeting of Iran, Russia, and China in Beijing, it was decided that these meetings would continue at different levels and on topics of interest, ideas were raised for holding the first joint trilateral meeting at the expert level in the near future.”
