President Trump may have prevented the imminent outbreak of global war. He has reportedly rejected an Israeli proposal to launch a major bombing campaign against Iran’s nuclear facilities, opting instead to pursue renewed negotiations with Tehran, according to a report in yesterday’s New York Times.
Citing White House officials and others familiar with the discussions, the report states that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed an extensive, week-long air campaign that would require U.S. backing and could begin as soon as May.
The proposal reportedly faced internal opposition from Vice President J.D. Vance, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who warned it could ignite a wider regional war. An intelligence assessment cited by Gabbard raised concerns that such a strike would provoke direct Iranian retaliation, destabilize global energy markets, and lead to thousands of U.S. military deaths in the region.
