The two spoke late in the day (Washington time) on Sunday, March 30. The U.K. readout reported the following:
“The Prime Minister spoke to President Trump this evening. The President opened by wishing His Majesty the King best wishes and good health. They discussed the productive negotiations between their respective teams on a U.K.-U.S. economic prosperity deal, agreeing that these will continue at pace this week. Discussing Ukraine, the Prime Minister updated the President on the productive discussions at the meeting of the Coalition of Willing in Paris this week. The leaders agreed on the need to keep up the collective pressure on Putin. They agreed to stay in touch in the coming days.”
As of 24 hours later, the White House has yet to see fit to report on the call. The only thing President Trump himself put out, was a post on Truth Social reporting that Starmer had just informed him that the “terrorists” who had damaged his Trump Turnberry golf course resort some three weeks ago had been caught, are in prison, and “hopefully will be treated harshly,” for which he thanked Starmer. (The act of “terrorism” he referred to was giant spray-painting across the resort’s main building of reportedly pro-Palestinian graffiti.)
