Tehran’s Press TV Interview with EIR on Iran-Russia-China Cooperation

Iran’s Press TV ran a half-hour interview with Mike Billington on Tuesday, April 22, on the theme of the cooperation between Iran, Russia and China. Unbeknownst to Billington, he was paired in the interview with the Canadian dropout from the LaRouche movement Matthew Ehret, who generally expressed his agreement with Billington’s points.

The Press TV journalist was particularly interested in Billington’s point that describing the world as divided between the evil West and the progressive East, as Ehret at first proposed, would not prevent the descent into global war between the “blocs.” Billington emphasized that the moves toward U.S.-Russia cooperation, as well as the tentative steps toward U.S.-Iran cooperation, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s call for U.S. participation in Iran’s nuclear power development, represent the necessary direction for a new international architecture for security and development for all countries. He encouraged international efforts to get Trump, as well as the European leaders, to engage with Russia, China, Iran and the nations of the Global South.
