Diplomatic representatives from Russia, Iran, and China met in Moscow on Tuesday, April 8. This is the second such meeting among the three delegations, following another meeting last month in Beijing. Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said the meeting was to “build on the progress of our prior dialogue, focusing on sustainable solutions to the nuclear issue,” and emphasized that Tehran engages in “uninterrupted strategic consultations with Russia and China to counter unilateral Western actions and defend Iran’s legitimate rights.”

The Kremlin also commented on the meeting. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “We are in constant consultations with our Iranian partners, including on the topic of the nuclear deal.” Peskov also declared that “This process will continue,” and that “Russia is ready to make every effort, to do everything possible to contribute to this problem’s resolution by political and diplomatic means,” reported Reuters. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also confirmed the meeting, saying that Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran aim to “harmonize positions” ahead of critical diplomatic discussions.
