In an April 1 interview with the Russian magazine International Affairs Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov addressed the growing tensions between the United States and Iran.
“Threats are indeed heard, ultimatums are heard. We consider such methods inappropriate; we condemn them, we consider this a way to impose one’s own will on the Iranian side. But at the same time, they complicate the situation and cause effects that, by and large, will require many times greater efforts in the future in terms of leveling the danger of another hotbed of tension and, God forbid, a conflict, an open conflict in the Middle East, where it is already quite high. We offer an alternative path.”
