Trump Says We Have Deal with Russia, Not Yet with Zelenskyy

After the U.S. pullout from the London meeting of foreign ministers from the U.K., France, the U.S., and Ukraine, due to either the inability or the refusal of the U.K. and France to bring their proxy client, Kiev, to discuss the U.S. peace plan, U.S. President Donald Trump kept the door open for Kiev. He told reporters yesterday: “I will say that I think Russia is ready, and a lot of people said Russia wanted to go for the whole thing. I think we have a deal with Russia; we have to get a deal with Zelenskyy. And I hope that Zelenskyy … I thought it might be easier to deal with Zelenskyy, but so far it’s been harder. But that’s okay, it’s all right. But I think we have a deal with both. I hope they do it, because we spend a lot of money. But this is about a lot of humanity.”

He attacked former President Joe Biden for throwing money at Ukraine, assumedly without an exit strategy: “We are spending hundreds of billions of dollars through Biden. Biden should have never let that war happen. We’re spending hundreds of billions, maybe $350 billion we’ve given to Ukraine, and we could use that money right here.”

Otherwise, it is reported by Axios that Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will hold further discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 25 in Moscow. Axios cited an unnamed U.S. official, and the report has not yet been confirmed.
