A 17-year-old Wisconsin teen accused of planning to assassinate President Donald Trump may have been guided by contacts in Ukraine, according to a report by journalist Joe Lauria. The teen, Nikita Casap, allegedly murdered his parents, withdrew $14,000, then set out on a road trip with plans to strike Trump, and potentially Vice President J.D. Vance.
As with the case of last September’s assassination effort by Ryan Wesley Routh, mysterious Ukrainian connections show up in the prosecutor’s case, suggesting Kiev’s possible use of unstable Americans.
Consortium News Editor-in-Chief Lauria’s study of the FBI affidavit in Casap’s case highlights his communications under the handle @accelerationist. (When used by white racist groups, this term refers to taking actions to bring on race war.)
On Jan. 25, 2025, Casap writes: “what country do you think will get the blame for this [Trump’s assassination]?” His unknown correspondent responds, “‘Russia will be blamed for it, this is the goal.”
