Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said in a March 31 interview with Izvestia that Russia and the U.S. are in talks on the development of rare earth minerals in Russia. “Rare earth metals are an important area for cooperation, and, of course, we have started discussions about various rare earth metals and projects in Russia,” he told Izvestia. He noted that some companies have already expressed interest in the projects.
Izvestia reported that the cooperation may be further discussed at the next round of Russia-U.S. talks, which may take place in mid-April in Saudi Arabia.
